In case you didn't know, July 6th is International Kissing Day, or World Kiss Day. Established in 2006, the day celebrates the act of puckering up simply for the enjoyment of it and not just as a prelude to more frisky pursuits. Like the kiss, cocktails and hot shoes often lead to... cheeky activities. However, here, we enjoy fancy footwear and fun drinks simply for what they are, and our fave place to put our lips is the rim of a cocktail glass. Here's how we suggest acknowledging this lip-inspired day.

Let's be honest, if you opened a kissing booth, you'd make enough cash to cover a year's worth of designer shoes. That's not your thing, though. Nonetheless, leave people wanting to kiss the ground you walk on in a playfully sexy shoe, like this satin mule from Charlotte Olympia's Kiss and Make Up Collection. In must-wear silhouette for this season, the "Kiss My Feet" sandal features a dainty stiletto heal and a puckered lip-inspired front strap. INGREDIENTS:
1 part LiDestri Pink Limoncello
1 part Whiskey
1 part Orange juice
Splash of Grenadine
Club Soda topper

METHOD
Build over ice in rocks glass. Garnish with slice of orange and cherry.

Did you know that today is National Tartan Day? Well, now you have a fun fact for happy hour. Until it's time to raise a glass, stomp out your Monday blues in a pair of plaid shoes. Wear it with denim, a navy blue suit or a striped pencil skirt and crisp white shirt. 

In Your Glass

Among the smokier scotcthes, Laphroaig is a hit among the cigar set. Ordering it at a bar earns you automatic cool-girl cred. However, if you're not into straight scotch, order it in a cocktail, like the "Plaid and Peated." The elderflower liqueur will round out any harsh edges on the flavor while leaving its essence intact.

Laphroaig Plaid and Peated

Ingredients:

1 part Laphroaig® Quarter Cask Single Malt Scotch Whisky

1⁄2 part Dry Vermouth

1⁄2 part Cynar

1⁄2 part Elderflower Liqueur

Method:

Combine all ingredients in mixing glass with ice

Stir well and strain into a chilled cocktail glass

Fairy Tales Do Come True

We've all seen the "Cinderella is proof that a pair of shoes can change your life" graphics ad nauseam by now.  As cliche as they've become, they continue to circulate because those of us who love shoes believe at least partially in the assertion. The simple sight of an amazing shoe can send our heart into overdrive, and if we catch a glimpse of a gorgeous sketch... le swoon. Disney apparently got the memo that we, indeed, believe in the life-transforming power of shoes. Consequently, to commemorate the upcoming live-action Cinderella movie, the foremost fairy tale purveyor has enlisted nine global luxury shoe designers to reimagine the (in)famous glass slipper. They really are the stuff of shoelover fantasies. Here they are:

New York Fashion Week ends today, and whether you attended the shows physically or vicariously, you’re sure to be in a bit of a head spin… so much so, that you need a break from sky high stilettos. Good thing ladylike kitten heels are one of this Fall’s biggest trends. Say goodbye to the New York shows and hello to the London ones with a big, red-lipped kiss. Recipe

· 2 oz Voli Raspberry Cocoa

· ½ oz raspberry liqueur

· Regular or diet cranberry juice

Method: Build ingredients over ice and stir.

Just because it’s low in calories doesn’t mean it’s low in alcohol. Don’t overdo it with this cocoaliscious berry concoction, or else your real lips might pucker up to the wrong person.

It seems the high heeled loafer trend will carry into Spring 2012, and Charlotte Olympia’s versions for Peter Som’s runway combined fun and luxury, using exotic stingray leather, bright colors and delicate metallic details.

The cutout platform booties have a futuristic flair, but I’m absolutely in love with the heavily hued platform pumps. Both are part of Cota’s collaboration with ALDO Rise, so they may actually be within reach for most of us next Spring.

Fun Friday: Charlotte Olympia Greta Pumps

You may not be able to wear your entire costume to work today, but you can dress your feet up. Feel like your job's a prison? Could it be that you're always mediating coworker clashes? Well, whether you're feeling like a prisoner or a referee, a pair of black and white striped pumps will say it all. Please know when to blow the wistle on your consumption, though. Shoes & Booze team members will be too busy enjoying the festivities to come bail you out of jail for any lewd behavior. (At least you'll have on your prison stripes already, though, right?)

Wild Wednesday: Charlotte Olympia Ophelia Pumps and

You're the exotic one who makes hearts "sang" and "everythang... groovy". Whether at work or at play, your vibrant, unique style stands out. You find the funkiest stuff wear it like no other.
