No Mess Monday- BCA Month: Nicholas Kirkwood Pink Loafer Pumps

Smart Peep-le

Nicholas Kirkwood Loafer Pump ShoesNBooze

Happy Halloween! Not every office is costume friendly, but you’re one smart cookie, so you know you can dress up as a nerd and still adhere to protocol. You also want to keep your chic. Lucky for you, bookworm inspirations are a big trend for Fall 2011. These Nicholas Kirkwood loafer pumps (available at Kirna Zabete for $995) put a playful spin on a serious look. The tassel and kiltie details are quite proper, and the 5 inch heel is definitely severe. Still, the pink suede with metallic leather trim is ultra femme (and tres apropos for the last day of Breast Cancer Awareness Month). Wear them with a plaid mid length skirt, a fitted button up shirt, suspenders, cardigan and thick rimmed glasses. Don’t forget slightly mussed hair and a pen behind your ear for good measure.

Bleeding-Heart-Martini

Since it’s Halloween and all, you might as well go the spooky route at happy hour. Ask your bartender for a Bleeding Heart Martini (image and recipe via happyhourmagonline.com) at happy hour. Though it has a pink tint, it’s not the fruity concoction you might expect. In fact, it’s not sweet at all, but you’re a tough cookie in addition to being a smarty, so you prefer it that way.

Ingredients:

Dry vermouth
Bombay Sapphire Gin
Pickled baby beet placed on a cocktail skewer

Instructions:

Chill martini glass. Add the vermouth; swirl to coat the glass, then pour out. Add gin to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously until chilled. Garnish with a skewered pickled baby beet, and serve immediately.

*Chances are you won’t guzzle this drink. However just in case… remember that even the most intelligent girl tends to make dumb decisions after too many drinks. Be responsible.

Wild Wednesday- BCA Month: Sole Boutique Leopard Booties

Sole Boutique The Leopard Shoe

Daring. Untamed. Unconventional. That’s you. But you’re also quite sweet and very playful. Your footwear should reflect your personality, so try a pair of pink animal print shoes like *Sole Boutique’sThe Leopard Shoe” ($42 at Karmaloop.com). Leopard spots on pink fabric adds an eye-catching touch of funk to one of this season’s key trends. The 6.25 inch heel and 1.25 inch platform give them a little sex appeal, but since the heel isn’t a stiletto, it’s tamed enough to wear with a short skirt without looking like you’re on the prowl. Though a certain fashion favorite platform this season gives a Herman Munster vibe, bout this shoe is cutely chunky without being clunky.

Pink Raspberry Margarita ShoesNBooze

You don’t shy away from the unusual, so you appreciate a drink with a little pizazz. This evening at happy hour, order a Pink Raspberry Margarita (image & recipe via cocktails.about.com). The funny thing about this cocktail is that the only ingredient it really has in common with a margarita is the tequila. Still, it’s a creamy, sweet, strong concoction that you’ll be glad you tried.

Ingredients:
Preparation:
  1. Rim a chilled margarita glass with sugar.
  2. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice.
  3. Shake well.
  4. Strain into the prepared glass.

*Your heels today are chunky, but if you drink too many of these cocktails it may feel like you’re walking on stilts. That said, drink responsibly.

Cutesy Tuesday- BCA Month: Milk and Honey Breast Cancer Awareness Shoe

Cutesy for A Cause

Milk N Honey Breast Cancer Awareness Shoe

You’ve always been known for your compassion, and because you realize how many women are affected by Breast Cancer each year, the cause is near and dear to your heart (literally and figuratively). You’re also quite the girly girl, so it’s no surprise that pink is a staple color in your closet. Well, here’s a chance to put the two together. When you buy Milk & Honey’s Breast Cancer Awareness shoe, 100% of profits go to the Karen Dove Cabral Foundation, a not-for-profit foundation dedicated solely to helping young women with breast cancer as they struggle to coordinate the daily challenges of their treatment and their “real lives”. Designed by MarieClaire.com site director, Abby Gardner, the “Pretty in Pink” leather shoe has a raspberry suede 4 inch heel, half inch platform, cap toe and T-strap. They’re about as classically feminine as a work shoe can get.

Pink Lady Cocktail ShoesNBooze

Since you’re feeling prim today, sip a Pink Lady (image & recipe via The Hostess with The Mostess) at happy hour. Cocktails featuring egg whites and other classic ingredients are increasingly popular these days, so you may get a cool point or two from your bartender. If you happen to be placing your order with a newbie, sweetly instruct him or her to shake and strain 1.5 oz Beefeater Gin, 1 teaspoon grenadine, 1 teaspoon light cream and 1 whole egg white into a chilled cocktail glass. Don’t forget to wink when you tip.

No Mess Monday- BCA Month: Lara Bohinc Orbit Shoe Boots

Planetary Punch

Lara Bohinc Orbit Bootie ShoesNBooze

Where did the weekend go? Your body’s at your office, but it’s like your mind is someplace in outer space today. Still, you have work to do and challenges to overcome today. Maybe you’ll be a little more connected if you focus on your feet today (because they’re what connects you to the world anyway, right?). Wear some out-of-this-world booties like Lara Bohinc’s Orbit Shoe Boots ($990). Their pointy toe, coupled with their complex contours, angular metal plated 4.7 inch heel and .75 inch platform give them a somewhat severe look. However, the bright pink color and python trim add enough fun to make them a great Venus + Mars combo.

Agave Negro

When the time comes to sip away today’s stresses, go for something that’s strong, but still a bit girly, like an Agave Negro (Image and recipe via letspartymagazine.com) . Because it’s made with reposado tequila, it’ll give you the kick you want, but the bite will be mellowed out by a little simple syrup and Chambord.

Recipe:

2 blackberries, plus 1 blackberry and 1 lime wheel skewered on a pick
1 cup ice
1 1/2 ounces reposado tequila
3/4 ounce fresh lime juice
3/4 ounce Simple Syrup
1/2 ounce Chambord
1 ounce chilled club soda

Instructions:
In a cocktail shaker, muddle the blackberries. Add the ice, tequila, lime juice, Simple Syrup, and Chambord. Shake well and pour into a rocks glass. Stir in the club soda and garnish with the skewered blackberry and lime wheel.

*Note: This cocktail is tasty and refreshing, but tequila is no light matter. Mind your sips and avoid slips.
