Wear or Beware? Ernesto Esposito Multicolored Sandals

On the Bright Track

This summer, multicolored and mixed medium shoes are almost a wardrobe necessity. They're fun, and they can spice up the simplest of looks. However, is there a such thing as taking it too far? This "patchwork leopard peep toe" by Ernesto Esposito definitely approaches that border if there is. At first glance, I was turned off. However, the more I looked at them, the better they looked (maybe because I'm a sucker for 40's inspired styling- and metallic pink). What's your take? Would you dare to wear them? If so, with what?

Cutesy Tuesday: Tabitha Simmons Polka Dot Sandals

Connecting Dots
TABITHA SIMMONS - JAQUARD POLKA DOTS SEIDE SANDALE
You're everyone's go-to gal whenever gaps need filling and dots need connecting. That's probably because your cunning, boosted by your coy charisma make it easy for you to move from one circle to the next. Celebrate your charm today in a delightful pair of polka dot platforms, like this pair by Tabitha Simmons (available via LUISAVIAROMA.COM). The combination of pastel and primary hues, coupled with white polka dots, indicates a darling spirit that's also enhanced by classic values and bit of complexity. The silk fabric nods to your ladylike nature, and the 5 inch heel speaks to your inner vamp. All in all, though, the shoe- like you- is cute and fun.

Toast your breath-of-fresh-air personality (and the season) at happy hour with a Grasshopper. This minty-sweet confection of a cocktail combines Marie Brizard Green Mint Cream, Marie Brizard White Cacao Liquer and a bit of cream. It's more girly than the drinks I usually recommend, but you don't always have to drink like one of the boys. Do remember, though, that even the weakest drink can sneak up on you if you drink enough of it. That said, keep things cute, and don't overindulge.

Yours Shoely,

Me

*P.S. The shoe featured is from one of my advertisers, so I'll love you forever if you buy it :-). However, if $1354.50 is out of your range, you'll also look cute in a pair of these:

Don't Mess With Me Monday: Christian Louboutin Let Me Tell You Booties

Well Said...
You've been lauded for your communication skills, but Mondays tend to make you a little sharp tongued. Instead of lashing out, let your footwear express your dicey disposition. These Let Me Tell You booties by Christian Louboutin (available at MyTheresa.com) will say all that needs to be said. The red and black color combination is a serious matter in itself, and lace-up styling always adds a stern air. The 4.5 inch heel, half inch platform and peep toe provides sex appeal. Then, there's the fact that the booties are made of letter cut-outs (though I have yet to decipher what they say). By day, they'll work with a pencil skirt or sheath dress, and at night you can wear them with dressy shorts (like Rojas The Silk Cotton Papersack Dress Shorts).

Since the seasons are still in transition, you can take your pick between dark and light liquor. Today's recommendation is a Red Manhattan, which combines Red Stag by Jim Beam Infused Bourbon (which is flavored with black cherry and tastes great on its own), dry vermouth and sweet vermouth. It's got quite a kick, you'll almost have no choice but to sip this one. Still, one too many may lead to your saying something you'll regret, so be mindful.

Happy Earth Day: Carbon Neutral Blogging, Green Cocktails and Cute Shoes

Tree Spirited

It's been said that motherhood can be a thankless job. After all the damage we humans have inflicted, Mother Nature (AKA Mother Earth) would probably agree with that statement. Maybe all the recent earthquakes, tornadoes and other natural disasters are her way of scolding her unappreciative children. Then again, maybe they're just a part of her aging process. Nonetheless, today is Earth Day, and it's our job to celebrate her. Plant a tree, pick up litter, donate to an eco-charity. Oh, and wear your most awesome pair of green shoes. I adore Poetic License's Spring Bloom sandals (available at musthaveshoes.com and also at Shoegasm). Though they're not especially eco-conscious, the green leaf motif pays an adorable homage to Mother Nature's Splendor.

While your shoes may reflect your eco-attitude more in design than in material, you can make up for it by drinking a cocktail made from organic or Earth-friendly ingredients. Last year, I recommended one of VeeV Acai Spirit's Veev-tini cocktails (a tree is planted for every one ordered at certain restaurants). However, if you're not watching the NFL Draft at one of the locations on the VeeV list, you should ask your bartender for an Eco-Tea-Ni. A combination of Vodka 360 (an eco-friendly vodka), green tea liqueur and green tea, it'll give you a little kick and a nice boost.

I've decided to also do my part through this blog by making it carbon neutral. Actually a tree will be planted because of this post. Kaufda, a company from Denmark has partnered with the Arbor Day Foundation to plant a tree in Northern California's Plumas National Forest for every blog that mentions their initiative. Apparently, a blog with 15,000 visits per month has a yearly carbon dioxide emission of 8 pounds. Having one tree planted will neutralize the carbon footprint of Shoes N Booze! Maybe one tree seems like a small contribution, but it's a start... What will be your gift to Mother Nature today?

Don't Mess With Me Monday: Pierre Hardy T-Strap Platform Sandals

Seeing Through it All

Why do people seem most likely to try and pull the wool over your eyes on Mondays? Luckily, you've always had a strong sense of discernment, and that's part of what's made you successful. Acknowledge that characteristic today by wearing a pair of see-through shoes (PVC panels and uppers on shoes are a huge trend this season). Pierre Hardy's T-strap platform is the quintessential version. It's multicolored purple, blue and brown PVC panels speak to your multi-faceted personality. The multiple metallic straps create a gladiator sandal effect and acknowledge your inner soldier. Meanwhile, the double platform and approximately 5.5 inch heel mean you'll stand tall no matter what.

When it's time to unwind after work, ask your bartender for a "Stiletto" (Recipe & image via Marie Claire) The intoxicating brainchild of mixologist, Darren West, it combines RIGHT Gin, pomegranate liqueur, pomegranate blueberry juice, blueberry syrup, orange bitters, lime juice and sparkling wine. It's a sweet-but-tart treat with a bubbly finish. The ingredient list is a long one, though,so give the bartender some creative license. Also, no one respects the authority of a drunk person, so mind your intake.

Yours Shoely,

Me

Fun Friday: Luchiny Many Moons Sandals

With Flying Colors...
This week has taken you "there" and back. You made it through, though, and as always, you did it in stilettos without missing a step. Celebrate that accomplishment in a pair of festive, multicolored sandals, like Luchiny's "Many Moons" (available for $79.99 at dnafootwear.com- use code SandB to let them know I sent you and to get 10% off any purchase over $50). The bright stripes indicate a happy mood, the gold platform and heel accent add a luxe touch and the ankle strap amps up the sexiness. Plus the raffia upper and cork heel serves a bit of seventies chic. They're not the most office-friendly shoe, but they'll look great with jeans or maxi dresses now and a cute romper in the summer.
Tonight at happy hour, get the party started with a "Blue Sky" (recipe & image from in-the-spirit.co.uk). The recipe calls for Hendrick's Gin, Dekuyper Blue Curacao, and egg white and a splash of lime juice, but I'd probably ask for it sans egg. It'll lose its creaminess, but it will keep its kick. That means you should consume it with caution. Also, please remember to drink this one with a straw to avoid unsightly blue lips.

Yours Shoely,
