Booze Clues: Bloody Marys to Beat your NYE Hangover

Hey 2015, Hey!!!

We made it! The ball has dropped & the bubbly has been sipped. The new year is officially here! Now, what? How about New Year's Day brunch, complete with a little "hair of the dog" cure for the slight hangover you're feeling? After all, it is National Bloody Mary Day. Here are a couple of options (along with shoe pairings to help with that heel hangover from dancing the night away) in case you and your friends are meeting at someone's house to exchange resolutions or make vision boards.

Carrot Bloody Maria (by Elise Larson of A Beautiful Mess)

Ingredients
Fresh carrot juice
Bloody Mary mix
Ice
2 ounces Numi Carrot Curry Savory Tea-infused tequila**
Worcestershire sauce
Tabasco sauce
Lime
Fresh veggies, for garnish
Margarita salt, for garnish
Black pepper

Directions:
Rub the rim of a tall glass or mason jar with a slice of lime. Dip into coarse margarita salt. Fill glass 1/3 of the way with ice. Add tequila, then fill the rest of the glass with half Bloody Mary mix and half carrot juice. Add a few splashes of Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco sauce and the juice of half a lime. 12 Days of Christmas: Day 5- Gold Shoes

Gilt-y Pleasures

On the Fifth Day of Christmas I hope the Shoe Fairy gives to me:

Five Golden Rings! Actually, I'd prefer five pairs of golden shoes. Start with a pair of knee-high boots with sculpted heels, like Behnaz Kanani's "Delroba Gold" boots to go with jeans and sweaters. Then I'll take peep toed gold ankle boots, like Le Silla's limited edition "Mirror" booties and Max Kibardin's "Margot" fringed peep toes, to jazz up leggings or mini dresses (both available at Gregory's Shoes.) Also, a couple of pairs of gold pumps, like Diego Dolcini's metallic pointed pumps (available at FarFetch.com) and KG by Kurt Geiger's gold "Dolly" sequined pumps
(available at KurtGeiger.com).

Four Pairs of Feathered Footwear: Feathered and jeweled booties by Giuseppe Zanotti for Balmain (available at ShopBop.com), Jimmy Choo's "Mable" feather-adorned sandals (available at Saks Fifth Avenue), Bourne's "Hayden" satin peep toes (available at Lord & Taylor), "Carla" peacock feathered sandals by Martinez Valero (available at MartinezValero.com).

Three "French" pumps... Well 3 pairs by prominent French designer, Roger Vivier.

2 Pairs of Yves Saint Laurent Imperiale boots that go over my knee.

And...

A pair of Nicholas Kirkwood Egypt platforms in purple alligator.

Cutesy Tuesday: Kurt Geiger Dolly Pumps

Emerald Pretty

Have you ever wished you could click your heels 3 times and be somewhere else? That's called a typical case of the Tuesday blues. How does a girlie girl like you beat them? With a bit of green... sparkly, emerald-hued, Dorothy-like, bowed pumps to be exact. Granted, they're not appropriate for most offices, but if you're lucky enough to work in a fashion forward environment, a pair like these Dolly pumps from KG by Kurt Geiger will put a smile on your face at every glance. (If you can't wear them AT work you can always wear them after.) The bow and rounded toe are just darling, the green sequins add a touch of fantasy and the 4+ inch heel height says they're for big girls only. (Just don't let them distract you from real life too much.)

Chamagne cocktails on a Tuesday evening? At a normal happy hour? Who does that? A woman with princess tendencies, like you. That's why you'll be sipping on a Midori Sparkle (image and recipe courtesy of the blog at African-AmericanBrides.com)at the bar after work. Simple in composition and supper-yummy in taste, it consists of top shelf champagne (we prefer Perrier-Jouet Champagne) and Midori Liqueur. Its melon-y sweetness will dance on your tongue. Just don't drink past your limit... you DON'T want to be the girl-in-sparkly-shoes-who-danced-on-(then fell off of)-the-bar story.
