Runway Recap: Our 5 Favorite #SS15 shoes from #NYFW

New York Fashion Week has come to an end, and Spring/ Summer 2015 has a head-spinning variety of styles in store. There were so many shows and so many shoes (as always). We're simultaneously catching our breath from all the amzing pieces and trying to keep up with the coverage of London Fashion Week, but we managed to find our top #NYFW picks.

The Project Runway alum said in his notes that he drew inspiration for this collection from the multidimensional glass sculptures of Australian sculptor Sergio Redegalli. We think these shoes are the stuff of fairy tales, especially the silver iridescent pair at the top center and the white mules with the mint green perspex heels.

Inspirations for the apparel at the J. Crew Spring 2015 RTW presentation ran the gamut from sports to stars to South American textiles, resulting in a collection that that epitomized elevated cool. The shoes were gorgeous. This iridescent sandal, with its dainty heel and slender straps, took our breath away. We're coveting the entire collection, though.

Monique Lhuillier

A favorite among the red carpet crowd, Monique Lhuillier, recalled a recent trip to Harbour Island in the Bahamas for her Spring 2105 collection. She was moved by the blush and lilac tones, and she was inspired by the reflective, rippling water. Consequently, most of her had an element of sparkle or shimmer (and then there were those effervescent pink dresses). The shoes shined as well. This clear-heeled gold sandal is on our must-get list.

Marissa Webb

According to her instagram, Marissa Webb's shoes didn't arrive in time for her presentation. As a result, Ivy Kirzhner's (already-available-online yay!) footwear marched down the runway with her collection— a mash-up of tough, sweet and easy that will likely gain traction with the street style set. This particular pair— studded gladiator sandal with cutouts, lots of hardware and a dash of cowgirl inspiration— reminded us of Xena, one of our favorite on-screen tough chicks.

Kate Spade New York

An ode to the outdoors, Kate Spade's Spring 2015 collection was a sartorial invitation to "Escape the Ordinary." (Ya know, the cubicle, the constant staring at screens, the concrete jungle...) Leisure-in-spirit clothing was complemented by quirky accessories and easy, wear-all-day shoes. This lace-up sandal, with its block heel and dotted cutout pattern, has us fantasizing about dining alfresco on a sunny afternoon.

We bet you had your own favorites from the New York shows... We'd love to know what they were (so that maybe we can pair them with great cocktails once the season arrives).

Fashion editors from Style.com to Women’s Wear Daily mentioned how far the Project Runway alum still has to go before he can be taken seriously as a fashion designer. Still, his shoes for Spring 2012 are no laughing matter. With curved Tortoise shell heels and exotic skins in brights like orange and citrine they’re the perfect combination of serious and whimsical.

Bright pastels (think peach, sea green and lavender with a jolt of electricity) ruled this collaboration with ALDO Rise. Contrasting cut outs took platform pumps from standard to stand out. Meanwhile, The same last was covered in what seemed to be opaque nylon with sheer panels to create over the knee boots.

Mirror, mirror, on the… shoe? Seems that’s what Alejandro Ingelmo had in mind when he designed this collection, which includes shoes so shiny you can almost see your reflection. There were classic pumps, pump/ bootie hybrids and his signature tiered ankle boots, some in metallic leather and others in suede.

Dark. Erotic. Exotic. All apt descriptions for the shoes that walked down Alexander Wang’s runway. By dark, I don’t only refer to the colors (there were actually some white pointy pumps), but more a mood of mystery. They were simultaneously tough and feminine.

Runway Recap: MBNYFW SS '11 Faves- Christian Siriano + Alejandro Ingelmo for Cushnie et Ochs

Spikes & Stilts

The first official day of Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week showed that for Spring/ Summer 2011, leather will remain a summer staple, nautical/ military influence isn't going anywhere and safari motifs are here to stay. The main concern for the S&B team was, of course, the shoes. The stand-outs were Christian Siriano (as usual) and Alejandro Ingelmo for Cushnie et Ochs

Mr. Siriano showed super-high platforms in neutrals and deep tones. They're not for the faint of heart (or height), but highsteppers will be clamoring for them. (Footwear News showed great closeups of a few here.)

Alejandro Ingelmo adorned the shoes for Cushnie et Ochs' runway with severe spikes. (The girls at Elle think they were inspired by rhino tusks. What do you think?)

Shoe News: Ugg Austrailia's Seventh Annual Art and Sole Auction

These Boots were Made for Bidding

We at S&B love to see shoe designers collaborate for the greater good of others. While we don't often wear (or blog about) shoes that aren't high heeled and super sexy, we're making an exception for UGG Australia's Seventh Annual Art & Sole Auction. Held from December 1-14, the auction features UGG boots uniquely decorated by some of fashion and footwear's biggest boldfaced names. Betsey Johnson (whose pink UGGs- pictured- had the highest bid when we checked late Sunday night), Giuseppe Zanotti, (Project Runway alum) Christian Siriano and Stuart Weitzman were among the designers who gussied up a pair of the ubiquitous boots. All proceeds raised will go to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Bidding is hosted by Charity Folks and ends at 3 PM EST, so hurry up and get clicking!

Shoe News: Christian Siriano's Payless Collection Causes Heart Palpitations

Project Payless

Project Runway alum, Christian Siriano's show yesterday, featuring his limited-edition line for Payless, set stylish tongues a-wagging. He's not the first designer to team with the low-cost retailer- or the first to debut a collection during New York Fashion Week. However, there was something more... inspiring and lustworthy about his. Hidden platforms, curved cone heels, luxe, ladylike accents and tough details all amounted to a jaw-droppingly covetable collection. Sad to say, though, that when we checked the Payless ShoeSource website, we only spied a couple of styles- that lacked the umph of what strutted down the runway. The black Slither ankle booties are wearable at best, but um... we'd much rather one of the pairs pictured here (in an 8 and a 10... thanks)
