Shoes on the Screen: SATC2 Chic on the Cheap

Carrie On
Do you remember what made you fall in love with Sex and The City? Was it Charlotte's naivete, Miranda's assertiveness, Samantha's unapologetic lust for life or Carrie's inner hopeless romantic? For me it was all of that... plus the fashion and the SHOES! When the fierce foursome hit the big screen for the first time in 2008, Manolo Blahnik's "Something Blue" pumps stole the show. However, for Sex And The City 2, wardrobe designer, Patricia Field shod Carrie and crew in a number of heart-palpitating pairs.

Those who can't shell out Christian Louboutin and Brian Atwood bucks can nab similar styles for a fraction of the price. (NOTE- Shoes N Booze does NOT advocate knock offs, but we have no problem with affordable fashion taking a cue from higher-priced designers.) Our sole sisters at (a pretty cool shoe search engine) tipped us off that their shoe stylists will be more than happy to help you find SATC 2 style on a shoestring budget. Here are a couple to start you off...

Lace has been a huge trend for Spring/ Summer 2010, and the Christian Louboutin Bridget Strass booties (or her sister, the Bridget) have been spotted on the feet of everyone from Scarlett Johanssen to Khloe Kardashian... and Carrie Bradshaw. (Image via

They may be tough to acquire for those without a boldfaced name or a platinum card (they cost $3,325), but the Dollhouse Tano is an easy score (at $49.95- $54.00).

If you're more into stud love, the lavender suede Brian Atwood Loca pump (which Carrie wore with cropped jeans and a plaid shirt) will send you into a frenzy. They're $800 at Net-A-Porter. (Image via

However, if you'd like a similar style with less of an investment, Steve Madden's Twilitte has it nailed (and costs $99.95 or less).

Which shoes were your favorite from the Sex and the City 2? I may be able to help you find a similar pair for a pocket-friendly price.

Yours Shoely,

Almost There Thursday: TOMS Calypso Wedges

Wedge Fun
Everyone loves Thursday, right? You've made it over the hump, and the weekend is in sight. If you're anything like me, though, you've been in stilts all week, and your feet could use a reprieve. A comfy pair of wedges with a moderate heel height is your best bet. If you opt for the new Calypso Wedge from TOMS Shoes, you'll treat a child in need to a pair of shoes too. (You know they donate a pair for every pair purchased, right?) Since Americana, Nautical themes and preppy inspirations are all huge trends this summer (and espadrilles are a seasonal staple), they'll make a great addition to your shoe closet.
During your post-work cavorts this evening, you'll want to sip something fun. Try a Leblon Madras. With its preppy name and combination of Leblon Cachaca, orange juice and cranberry juice it's a great cocktail pairing for your snazzy shoes. This drink is what I like to call a sneak-up, though, so pay attention to how many you consume. It tastes so yummy that you may forget it contains alcohol, but eventually it'll hit you. Besides, you don't want to spill a red drink on light-colored fabric shoes.
