Don't Mess With Me Monday: Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti Lace Up Heels

Tied & True
You played all weekend, but it's back to work today. It can be tough to walk the line between your sensitive feminine side and the assertive side that makes your male coworkers respect you. Somehow you do it, though, and fabulously. Remind everyone of your balancing skills today in a pair of high heeled oxfords, like these ribbon-laced shoes from Alberta Ferretti. The cream color signals the start of spring, and the menswear inspiration in the patent leather details references your toughness. However, the delicate 4.7 inch heel and grosgrain ribbon shoelaces are undeniably girly. They'll look amazing with frilly frocks (like the Eliza J Women's Ruffle Front Shirt Dress), pencil skirts or pants suits.
Early Spring is the time to switch from dark liquor to light. However, you can cross over slowly. That's why it's the perfect time for a "Brandy Alexander" (recipe & image courtesy of 3scocktails.com). While it's made with Remy Martin Brandy, it's mixture of creme de cacao and heavy cream give it a light, seasonal color. It will definitely have a kick, though, so if you're a lightweight drinker go slowly.

12 Days of Christmas: Day 7- Seven Shoes A'Shining

Who's Glistening?

On the Seventh Day of Christmas I hope the Shoe Fairy brings to me:

Seven shoes a'shining! "Bionic" pink and purple platform pumps from Ruthie by Ruthie Davis and Carvela's deep purple Sleaze booties are badass beauties. Bright metallics, like Rupert Sanderson's purple Winona pumps and Laurence Dacade's electric blue JO booties, add futuristic flair. Marc By Marc Jacobs' bright pink 605957 round toed pumps provide sweetheart appeal, and spectator detailing, accompanied by a contoured heel make these oxfords by Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti the perfect crossroads between old and new. Christian Louboutin's "Madame Claude" d'orsay peep toed pumps will vamp up any look.

Six Feats of Graying! Thigh high "New Davis" suede boots by Brian Atwood (available at Net-A-Porter), Cesare Paciotti's studded, belted knee boots (avialable at myprestigium.com), Oxford ankle boots in gray suede and leather by Neil Barrett (available at The Corner), and a pair of Sergio Rossi "Fishnet" booties- (from the SS/10 collection), Jeffery Campbell's "Michelle" gray suede pumps (available at Akira Chicago), and Barbara Bui's "Choked Ankle" pumps (available at ShopBop.com).

Five Golden Rings! Actually, I'd prefer five pairs of golden shoes: a pair of knee-high boots with sculpted heels, like Behnaz Kanani's "Delroba Gold" boots, peep toed gold ankle boots, like Le Silla's limited edition "Mirror" booties and Max Kibardin's "Margot" fringed peep toes, (both available at Gregory's Shoes), a couple of pairs of gold pumps, like Diego Dolcini's metallic pointed pumps (available at FarFetch.com) and KG by Kurt Geiger's gold "Dolly" sequined pumps
(available at KurtGeiger.com).

Four Pairs of Feathered Footwear: Feathered and jeweled booties by Giuseppe Zanotti for Balmain (available at ShopBop.com), Jimmy Choo's "Mable" feather-adorned sandals (available at Saks Fifth Avenue), Bourne's "Hayden" satin peep toes (available at Lord & Taylor), "Carla" peacock feathered sandals by Martinez Valero (available at MartinezValero.com).

Three "French" pumps... Well 3 pairs by prominent French designer, Roger Vivier.

2 Pairs of Yves Saint Laurent Imperiale boots that go over my knee.

And...

A pair of Nicholas Kirkwood Egypt platforms in purple alligator.

Fun Friday: Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti Stilettos & Zen Cocktails

Green Chi

Though you may be excited that the weekend's arrived, there's something very calming about leaving the office on a Friday evening. It's as if you can feel the tension leave your shoulders as you shut down your computer, and the oxygen seems to flow more freely through your lungs once you step into two days of freedom. Now that you've re-centered, do a little foot feng shui. Paint the town red in a pair of green shoes. Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti's patent strappy stiletto sandals (available at eLuxury.com) are an eye catching way to say you've found your chi. If the symmetrical pattern of multiple straps with enamel buckles doesn't express your inner equilibrium, walking steadily on the 5 inch stiletto heel will prove you've got a strong sense of balance. They'll look great with fitted denim bermuda shorts or a sexy shirtdress.

Keep the good vibes flowing, and order a Zen Buddha at your bar of choice (get extra karma points for tipping generously). One of Zen Liqueur's signature cocktails, it's a combination of SKYY Citrus Vodka, orange juice, Blue Curacao and Zen Green Tea Liqueur. The first sip of this stuff is sweet salvation, and by the end of your drink you'll be one with all that is good in the world. Don't overdo it, though because too much off a good thing can easily turn into bad news when you're dealing with liquor.
