A Lovely Gray
You devour the sports pages as eagerly as you do WWD. Your Sundays and Monday nights are spent watching football, and you're still as girly and chic as they come. So, today, you're wearing shoes that let your colleagues know you mean business but will also work when you go watch Monday Night Football at your favorite watering hole (which happens to be the swankiest sports bar in town). Some girls wear flats, but like Victoria Beckham, you think better in heels. This sculpted platform pump from YSL (or some other sleek semi-wedge with a platform) is definitely the shoe for you. The combination of sumptuous suede and shiny patent, coupled with the unique silhouette equals a shoe that's just like you. Plus, the 4.5 inch heel and 1 inch platform mean you'll still be able to see the TV screen if none of the guys at the bar are chivalrous enough to give up their seat.
You don't think like most women, and you don't drink like them either. You like a drink with a kick... but you don't mind if it's a little sweet. Besides, tonight, a frilly-looking drink will ruin your street cred. Our recommendation is a Greek Goddess (the name sounds girlie but we promise it packs a punch). It's simply Three Olives Pomegranate Vodka with a splash of lemon/ lime soda. The pomegranate infusion makes sure it goes down smooth, but since it's clear, you won't be chided for drinking like a girl. Do remember, though, that you ARE a lady and that too many of these may lead to some unladylike behavior.
After seeing them in ELLE Magazine, Lucky, Footwear News and some of our other go-to glossies, the Shoes & Booze team has been lusting for Omelle shoes for some time. We're happy to share the news that their website's virtual boutique is (finally) active! To celebrate, we're highlighting some of their shoe art for today's Wild Wednesday post.Gone Fishing
The mercury's been doing a yo-yo move lately, and it's likely been causing you a bit of footwear frustration. Today's a day of fantasy. Pretend it's hot outside, and throw on a pair of super-chic sandals. OK, let's not go that far. Wear some pumps, but fantasize about these Andre sandals by Omelle (available at omelle.com). You may not be one for the outdoors, but this shoe's perch scale upper means you still appreciate its spoils. The 4 inch detailed heel, which we feel imitates both the fish bone structure and hunters' arrows, says you've got some strong instincts of your own. The actual design of the shoe is simultaneously simple and futuristic, so while you've got your eye on the prize, there's still something a bit practical about you. And then there's the neutral color of the shoe... it gives you almost limitles outfit options (except other animal prints).
Today's also St. Patrick's Day, so for we're doing something a little different. Since you probably can't wear the above shoe anyway (unless you're in the warmer parts of the country), we decided to give you a drink you can actually have. Irish drumroll please... It's the P.I.N.K. Leprechaun Martini (recipe & image courtesy of Drinkoftheweek.com)! This sweet, effervescent mixture of P.I.N.K Vodka, Bailey's Irish Cream and green creme de menthe (accented with chocolate syrup) will have Irish eyes smiling (and everyone else's too). Just remember that if you down too many, you'll need the luck o' the Irish to make it home without embarassing yourself in some way. Cheers!
Going Gray
Miss "Lady", what are you made of? Sugar and spice... a little naughty and maybe a few spikes? At first sight, you're straight-laced, classy and a bit conservative. We all know there's more to you than that. You've got a little edge and it shows, especially in these ankle strap patent peep toe pumps from Le Silla. The gray hue, peep toe and ankle strap hint at highbrow style, but the double row of pyramid studs on the heel say there's a little nonconformist in you yet.
As I'm sure you know, it's Fashion Week in New York. Whether you're in the Big Apple or not, toast the occasion with a "Lady of the Evening" (image courtesy of Imperia). It's served at the Bryant Park Hotel's Cellar Bar for $25, but you may be able to score one at your area's swankiest spot. Just let the bartender know it's a standard martini made with Imperia Vodka and a cucumber and caviar float.
