Get the Look: YSL Diamante Boots

Rock it like RiRi

Remember that time Anthony Vacarello stopped the world by sending a pair of mesmerizing silver, jeweled slouch boots down the YSL Fall 17 runway? Did you also seethe with envy swoon when Rihanna wore those exact boots less than a week later?

A post shared by badgalriri (@badgalriri) on

OK, us, too. While we had zero hopes of securing the $10,000 (yes, you read that right) phenoms of footwear, we have since been wondering who would be first to make a similar style available to the masses. (Because in addition to that price tag, there's also a crazy waiting list.) Well, it looks like British brand, Kandee, is among the leaders of that pack with its aptly named "Bad Girl" boot.

Though the $550 version doesn't have the structural cone heel (because, uh, hello trademarks), it does have the pointed toe, slouch silhouette and dazzling allover crystals. (That's what matters most, right?) If you're chasing this trend, you'll have to pre-order a pair HERE. They'll take 3-6 weeks to ship— according to Kandee, they're handmade to order.

As always, indulge responsibly!

Shoe Preview: 4 Favorites from Furla Spring '15

Bring on the Bling!

(I said 'bling.' So what? It rhymed. I don't care that the word 'bling' isn't even a thing anymore. Anyway...) I remember the delight I felt when I was a little girl, and I was left alone to play with my Grandmommy's costume jewelry. The sparkle of those baubles used to ignite my imagination. I felt a bit of the same spark when I saw the jeweled shoes in Furla's Spring 2015 shoe collection. I immediately envisioned the maxi and mid skirts I could wear with the shoes. One pair will work with a safari look, while another is the perfect complement to... well... almost anything!

Inspiration notes for Furla's Spring 2015 collection

Got a wedding to attend in spring 2015? If it's a daytime wedding, this shoe will look adorable with gingham or florals. Going to brunch? Yup, this shoe works with jeans. Dinner and a show? This shoe and a tea-length full skirt are the way to go. The intense tangerine color, paired with citrine and clear stones make this pump festive and fresh. The almond toe keeps it from looking solely formal.

If day-to-night is your need, this brown sandal will do the trick. The chunkier heel gives it an easygoing look, but the tonal jewels dress it up. It's basically a strong contender for the go-to position in your closet.

The golden hue of this skimmer, coupled with the dazzling jeweled accent may give one the feeling of walking on sunshine. The fact that it's also the same color as the ubiquitous smiley face adds its happy factor. With jeans or ankle pants, for work or weekend, this flat is as versatile as it is glamorous.

This take on the slide trend is the epitome of the understated elegance mentioned in Furla's collection notes. Calf-hair straps and chunky jewel accents make these a great partner for flowing maxi skirts and dresses.

Shoe Preview: 5 Faves from Carolinna Espinosa Spring '15

#ShoeFact: Carolinna Espinosa uses memory foam cushioning in each shoe. This is apparently a major component in the brand's quest to create "the perfect shoe that is eye-catching, comfortable and sophistacated all at once."  For Spring/ Summer 2015, the creative directors found inspiration in a variety of places, especially fashion's current obsession with flowers and luxe embellishments. The result is a refreshing collection of feminine styles with dynamic accents. I recently visited the showroom for a preview, and these styles made my want list:

Pearl accent classic pump by Carolinna Espinosa

The line of pearls down the heel of this "Arabia" pump makes it look professional without looking too practical (because I have an aversion to most practical shoes, but I realize the importance of owning a classic pump).

Carolina Espinosa Pointed Flat with Jewels and Pearls

A cute skimmer is another must— especially if you live, work or play in a city like New York. The jeweled pearl accent on this flat reminds me of a vintage brooch. I'd love these with some camo or leopard print skinnies for a little edge.

Carolinna Espinosa Silver Celie Sandal

I'm a huge fan of snakeskin shoes. And florals. This "Celie" sandal combines the two and adds an architectural bridge detail at the heel. The metallic slilver and monochromatic color palette make it incredibly versatile too.

Another take on monochrome, this "Sandra" pointed flat has a subtle zipper accent. I don't usually like zipper embellishments, but this one manages not to look cheesy.

I said it on IG, and I'll say it again... my allergies prevent me from really enjoying flowers in real life. However, I do appreciate them on a shoe, especially in bright, pretty colors. I'm also big on baubles, so the jewels on this "pepper" sandal drive it right up my alley.

These and the rest of the styles in the collection will be available in February 2015 at price points between $195 and $275. Stay tuned for drink pairings! Do you have a favorite among these? Let us know in the comments!

Shoe Preview: ZigiNY Black Label Fall 2012

Not long ago, I visited the ZiGiny showroom to see what we can all look forward to next season. After a walk through, I was on a heel high (though I must admit that lots of my absolute favorites won’t make it to production and therefore won’t be pictured here. sigh). Here are a few sparkly pairs from their luxed up ZiGiny Black Label line that put a twinkle in my shoe-loving eye, though. (My camera wasn’t my friend that day, so they were kind enough to send me images to share.)

ZiGiny Black Label Aries

Just when you thought the heel-less shoe trend (a la Lady Gaga) was done, they added jewels and stars to give it new life. This isn’t an everyday bootie, and I’m not sure I’d wear it, but it is definitely an attention grabber. Are visions of “walking amongst the stars” puns dancing through your head too?

ZiGiny Black Label Imagine

A spindly silver heel, combined with stars and fuchsia sequins equals quite the fashion feat. Since they’re my favorite color, I’d add this one to my shoe family (despite the fact that we’ll be seeing less of the super high platform trend  in seasons to come.)

ZiGiny Black Label Surprise

I’m seldom into flats, but this dazzler caught my eye. It’s just ostentatious enough to be chic… almost like a gaudy neutral, if such a thing exists.

ZiGiny Black Label Janis

ZigiBL_Janis_All2

How can you not love a glitzy smoking slipper? It’s laid back and glammed up all at once!

These styles will be popping up at various retailers (online and brick and mortar) right around August.

12 Days of Christmas: Day 4- Four Plumed Shoes

Fine Feathered Friends

On the Fourth Day of Christmas, I hope the Shoe Fairy brings to me:

You can keep you Four Calling Birds... this shoelover would rather have feathered footwear! Feathered and jeweled booties by Giuseppe Zanotti for Balmain (available at ShopBop.com) will add a luxe touch a legging look or some black skinny jeans. Jimmy Choo's "Mable" feather-adorned sandals provide automatic glam, too (available at Saks Fifth Avenue). Bourne's "Hayden" satin peep toes with a jeweled feather accent are a great mix of old and new elegance. Whether worn with an LBD or a gown, they play nice with most looks (available at Lord & Taylor). Then there's the "Carla" by Martinez Valero. This peacock feathered sandal is an easy centerpiece for holiday looks and is a fun way to play up plumes (available at MartinezValero.com).

Three "French" pumps... Well 3 pairs by prominent French designer, Roger Vivier.

2 Pairs of Yves Saint Laurent Imperiale boots that go over my knee.

And...

A pair of Nicholas Kirkwood Egypt platforms in purple alligator.
