Celebrity Shoe Spotting: Kristin Cavallari and Sofia Richie Love These Ankle Boots

Point Blanc

Kristin Cavalarri in Alias Mae Ahara boots
via Instagram

We love white boots, and we love snake print. Apparently television personality, Kristin Cavallari is also a fan. She recently posted the above picture on her Instagram feed wearing this sick pair of pointed-toe ankle boots. Clad in an easy outfit of a white tee, cutoffs and mirrored shades, she ponders the value of coffee over tea, saying "Day 3 no coffee. Blah. Do you guys really like tea? I mean I love matcha- but this tea just kinda tastes like sh*t 😂." Fans chimed in with their opinions. Meanwhile we were just there for the shoes. (Though maybe we should inform Kristin a little Slow & Low Rock & Rye will wake that tea right up.) Sofia Richie was also spotted sporting this style earlier this month. So who made these must-have white and black python print booties? If you guessed that they're from Kristin's eponymous collection by Chinese Laundry, you're incorrect

The shoe in question is actually the "Ahara" Snake Boot by Australian footwear brand, Alias Mae. Part of the brand's Fall '18 collection, this block-heel beauty is available for preorder here. If you need a similar style sooner, here are a few suggestions:

Celebrity Shoe Spotting: Hailee Steinfield in Zvelle

Point-Perfect

Hailee Steinfield in Zvelle Mei Booties

Perfect Pitch 3 star, Hailee Steinfield was recently spotted on the red carpet at 106.1 KISS FM's iHeartRadio Jingle Ball 2017 in a pair of seriously sexy lace-up booties with pointed toes a 4-inch stiletto heels. We're not usually fans of black suede shoes in the Shoes N Booze office because of how quickly they fade. However, these Mei booties by Zvelle are triple-dyed to ensure deep, long-life color. They also  have a zipper on the inner ankle, so you don't have to worry about risking your manicure in the name of shoe love, and a gold zipper pull adds a luxe touch.

Suede Lace-up Stiletto Bootie as seen on Hailee Steinfield

You can snag a pair for yourself in black or eggplant here for $525. If you'd prefer to keep things a little more low-key, they also come in a mid-heel for $515. And if you like the style but want to keep a little more cash reserved for the folks on your "nice" list, here are a few less expensive ways to get the look:

Wondering what to drink when you rock your new lace-up booties for a night out?

Black and Gold Martini

Try a Black and Gold Martini (from our friends at The Spruce). It's got a seductive edge, but it's also pretty sweet with plenty of kick. That's basically the vibe of those boots, right? Whether you're pre-gaming before girls' night out or planning on ordering at the bar, here's the recipe:

Ingredients:
Method:
  1. Pour the Blavod into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  2. Shake well.
  3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
  4. Top with Goldschlager.
If you want to learn how to make your own black vodka, Colleen Graham of The Spruce has a suggestion here.

Shoe News: Christian Louboutin's New Nudes

Nude Loubs for All

Christian Louboutin added two more styles to it's Nudes collection today. The special capsule collection created to match multiple skin tones was launched in 2013 and included the ever-popular Pigalle Follies 100 pump, along with three other styles in five shades. The collection has since been expanded to seven shades (cheers to more inclusion!) and currently includes four styles—the new Christeriva ankle wrap sandal and Cherry block heel sandal join the Solasofia pointed flat and Degrarivierina jeweled pump on the brand's website.

Celebrities including Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez and various members of the Kardashian family have been spotted in shoes from the Nudes collection. We're actually loving how Sofia & Mauro shot the campaign for the launch to focus on the beauty of various skin tones, as complimented by the shoes. So many shoe campaigns seem to focus on models's faces or other aspects and seem to treat the shoes as an afterthought.

So, will you be asking C'Loub to send you nudes?

Get the Look: YSL Diamante Boots

Rock it like RiRi

Remember that time Anthony Vacarello stopped the world by sending a pair of mesmerizing silver, jeweled slouch boots down the YSL Fall 17 runway? Did you also seethe with envy swoon when Rihanna wore those exact boots less than a week later?

A post shared by badgalriri (@badgalriri) on

OK, us, too. While we had zero hopes of securing the $10,000 (yes, you read that right) phenoms of footwear, we have since been wondering who would be first to make a similar style available to the masses. (Because in addition to that price tag, there's also a crazy waiting list.) Well, it looks like British brand, Kandee, is among the leaders of that pack with its aptly named "Bad Girl" boot.

Though the $550 version doesn't have the structural cone heel (because, uh, hello trademarks), it does have the pointed toe, slouch silhouette and dazzling allover crystals. (That's what matters most, right?) If you're chasing this trend, you'll have to pre-order a pair HERE. They'll take 3-6 weeks to ship— according to Kandee, they're handmade to order.

As always, indulge responsibly!

Celebrity Shoe Spotting: Kelly Clarkson in Marion Ayonote Heels

Kelly and the Conqueror

Three-time GRAMMY winner, Kelly Clarkson is making her rounds across the Pond and seems pretty fond of British shoe brand, Marion Ayonote. The pop princess recently wore the designer's gold "Conqueror" heels on the popular show Loose Women, where she talked about her life, her new single and her adorable daughter (who was backstage during the taping and wearing the most adorable gold fringed moccasins).

The gladiator-inspired style sandal features a reptile-embossed panel and a lace-up front on a stiletto heel. It's available HERE on Marion Ayonote's website.

Kelly wore the "Conqueror" in silver during a Valentine's Day performance at a London night club, as well. Get them HERE.

To get the look without the $893 (£550) price tag, try these Cezarine lace-up sandals by Aldo (avaialble at Amazon.com):

Red Carpet Recap: Shoes from the 57th GRAMMY Awards

The Three to See

Red carpet coverage this year seemed to be extremely limited for this year's GRAMMY awards. A perusal through the images on Getty's website would make one thing that only a handful of boldface names even attended the show. Of those photographed (or published), only a few showed their shoes and even less wore anything to write home about. Nonetheless Kat Graham, Beyonce and Taylor Swift all tickled my shoe fancy. Here are their shoes (sans celebs... because we don't want the photo-related issues we've been hearing about from some other bloggers):

Beyonce

Jeweled Fendi Sandal Worn by Beyonce

Her arrival gown didn't really show her shoes, but when the queen of the Beyhive posed with her awards, she wore a sparkling black fringed mini and dramatic jeweled Fendi sandals. Crocodile, crystals, a caged look and a cutout heel make a winning combination here. No comment on the performance or whether or not she should have won the award instead of Beck. (Available at Saks.com)

Kat Graham

White Sophia Webster Pumps from the GRAMMYS

Kat Graham punctuated a sheer black and white gown with white Sophia Webster 'Coco' pumps. The stacked jeweled beads on the heels make them whimsically glamorous and added a dash of color to the monochromatic look. (Available on Sophia Webster's website)

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift's Giuseppe Zanotti Sandals for the Grammys

The princess of emo pop rocked berry-colored suede wedge sandals by Giuseppe Zanotti with her teal gown. Though Pharell may not have been impressed with her dance moves, I liked the way she played with colors. (Available at yoox.com)

What did you think of the shoes on the red carpet this year? Which pair was your favorite?

Celebrity Shoe Spotting: Solange's Weitzman Wedding Shoes

No Flex Zone!

My BFF in my head has wed! Solange Knowles recently tied the knot to Alan Ferguson and sent the whole internet a-buzz with her bicycle arrival, artistic wedding portraits, dramatically fly wardrobe changes, adorable mother/ son reception dance and second line through the streets of New Orleans. Her shoes? A sparkling pair of "Naked" sandals by Stuart Weitzman (available at Neiman Marcus). She seems to be a fan of his minimalist sandals, having donned a similar pair with a higher heel some months ago for the MET Gala. Solange, Shoes N Booze wishes you a lifetime of hot heels and hubby-induced happiness.

Celebrity Shoe Spotting: Ashley Judd in Alexandre Birman

Ashley Judd in Alexandre Birman ShoesNBooze

Ashley Judd, a newly recognized image issues activist, wore a pair of metallic strappy Alexandre Birman sandals to a recent screening of her new series Missing (photo via Just Jared). Though she’s been on a press tour for the series, she’s been getting more attention lately for a post on her blog entitled “The Conversation”, where she discusses the way women’s appearances are (often harmfully) discussed and verbally dissected. I think she looks pretty good in this picture, and how can you not love a classy metallic strappy sandal. She wore a gold snakeskin version of Alexandre Birman’s Mia sandal (pictured below in gold leather).

Red Carpet Recap: Oscar Night Shoe Wins

Highly Acclaimed

The 84th annual Academy Awards came with its fair share of fan fair. Viola Davis wore her natural hair, Meryl Streep took home the gold, J-Lo had a quasi nip slip and then there was Angelina Jolie’s look-at-me leg. Still, the stand out moments for me were mostly below the ankles.

Best Actress winner, Meryl Streep, may have once been the “Devil” in Prada, but last night she looked like a goddess in her shimmering gold Lanvin gown and matching Salvatore Ferragamo Frangrance peep toes (a few pairs of the red satin rendition are still available at Luisaviaroma.com). Her look drew disapproval from lots of critics, but compared to her Golden Globes ensemble, I’d say it was a win.

Meryl-Streep_Salvatore-Ferragamo_ShoesNBoozeSalvatore-Ferragamo_Fragrance-Pumps

Octavia Spencer, who won for Best Supporting Actress, was radiant in her Tadashi Shoji gown. It was so long it didn’t offer a peek at her shoes, but the word on the street is that she wore a pair of gold Linda sandals by Jimmy Choo.

Octavia-Spencer_Jimmy-Choo_Oscars_ShoesNBoozeJimmy-Choo_Linda-Pumps

Never one to shy away from bold hues, Best Actress nominee, Viola Davis was gorgeous in her green Vera Wang gown. The sweeping accordion pleats of the gown swept the floor, so I’ll have to take the Jimmy Choo crew’s word for it when they say she wore their Suki Sandals. It seems they’re not available for purchase presently, but here they are.

Celebrity Shoe Spotting: Katherine Heigl in Aruna Seth

Katherine Heigl Aruna Seth Shoes N Booze

When I think of Katherine Heigl- and Aruna Seth shoes, for that matter- glamorous images often come to mind. However, I guess we all have to relax at some point. During some recent downtime in LA, the former Grey’s Anatomy star paired her plaid button up shirt and jeans with Aruna Seth’s Jemmima flats.

Grossgrain ribbon and gold button details give the sandals a girly touch, but they’re not so overly femme that they can’t be worn with looks like Heigl’s. Got an extra $510? You can get your own pair HERE. Want the style but can’t foot the bill? Here are a few similar renditions of the look for less:

Shoes Clues: Style Tips from Brad Goreski

I recently had a brief shoe chat with celebrity stylist and reality TV star, Brad Goreski during Alexandre Birman’s Fashion Week event at SAKS FIFTH AVENUE. After he complimented me on my makeup (which I did all by myself. Hey now!), I asked him for recommendations on which shoes a woman should wear in certain situations to get particular results. Mr. “It’s a Brad Brad World” (premiering on BRAVO in 2012) currently dresses Jessica Alba, a frequent best dressed lister, so I’d say he knows a thing or two.

S&B: What should a woman wear to let a date know he’d better bring his A game?

Brad: A seriously high platform with spikes. (I took creative license and pictured the Ruthie Davis Spikette Deluxe here because Alexandre Birman didn’t do a spiked platform this season)

Ruthie Davis Spikette Deluxe ShoesNBooze

S&B: And if she’s going to a job interview?

Brad: A pump with personality… like something in a patent or snakeskin. Go with a twist on a classic. (Like this burgundy python number by Alexandre Birman- available at SAKS)

S&B: What about a shoe that says she’s looking for fun?

Brad: Color! Neons… I saw a turquoise snakeskin loafer around here… (Here they are… Alexandre Birman python loafers)

Alexandre Birman Python Loafer ShoesNBooze

(S&B sidebar- I think the loafer’s awesome, but if you’re like me and have a high heel habit, maybe go for something like this Jerome C. Rousseau Isy sandal)

Jerome C Rousseau Isy ShoesNBooze

S&B: OK, here’s the last question… what should a woman wear to catch the eye of a special guy- but not seem too fussy?

Brad: A sleek ankle boot. Elongate those legs, honey! (I think he’d approve either of these booties from Alexandre Birman.)

Oh… and my makeup… #youcare (subtle silver eye with a candy pink lip… I need to work on my photography skills because you can barely even see my makeup in this picture.)
