Red Carpet Recap: Shoes from the 57th GRAMMY Awards

The Three to See

Red carpet coverage this year seemed to be extremely limited for this year's GRAMMY awards. A perusal through the images on Getty's website would make one thing that only a handful of boldface names even attended the show. Of those photographed (or published), only a few showed their shoes and even less wore anything to write home about. Nonetheless Kat Graham, Beyonce and Taylor Swift all tickled my shoe fancy. Here are their shoes (sans celebs... because we don't want the photo-related issues we've been hearing about from some other bloggers):

Beyonce

Jeweled Fendi Sandal Worn by Beyonce

Her arrival gown didn't really show her shoes, but when the queen of the Beyhive posed with her awards, she wore a sparkling black fringed mini and dramatic jeweled Fendi sandals. Crocodile, crystals, a caged look and a cutout heel make a winning combination here. No comment on the performance or whether or not she should have won the award instead of Beck. (Available at Saks.com)

Kat Graham

White Sophia Webster Pumps from the GRAMMYS

Kat Graham punctuated a sheer black and white gown with white Sophia Webster 'Coco' pumps. The stacked jeweled beads on the heels make them whimsically glamorous and added a dash of color to the monochromatic look. (Available on Sophia Webster's website)

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift's Giuseppe Zanotti Sandals for the Grammys

The princess of emo pop rocked berry-colored suede wedge sandals by Giuseppe Zanotti with her teal gown. Though Pharell may not have been impressed with her dance moves, I liked the way she played with colors. (Available at yoox.com)

What did you think of the shoes on the red carpet this year? Which pair was your favorite?

Shoe Score! The Sophia Webster Sample Sale in NY

A Tale of a Shoe Sale

Is this not the cutest sample sale illustration, EVER?
The good news about this weekend's Sophia Webster sample sale in New York? I missed lining up in the rain, thanks to a brunch meeting. The bad news? I also missed most of the shoes I really wanted... as in I actually got there just in time to see 2 (TWO!) women walk up to the register with pairs of shoes I've been coveting for months. Adding insult to injury, each woman walked around the sample sale floor for at least 10 minutes in the shoes before purchasing. I guess neither the "Kimmi" mule, nor the "Izzy" pump were meant to be mine that day.

Alas, There were still a few pairs left that tickled my fancy (because that's what Sophia Webster shoes are designed to do, right? They cause an indescribabe feeling in the fanciest part of one's fashion sense). I tried on the "Finn" lace-up sandal, and as much as I love hearts, I felt the style was too limiting in terms of wardrobe options. Then there was the adorable  "Lula" sandal. I'm a sucker for ankle straps, but this style also seemed to present too many limits.

Apparently, I was meant to add a pair of "killer" heels to my shoe family that day.

It's been said (all over instagram) that shoes speak louder than words. To me, these "Nicky" sandals said "I'm happy, but I'll cut ya if I have to." I like that message, I love the way the ankle strap looked on my legs and I appreciated that the neon yellow can be worn almost as a neutral. Score! (Plus, they're comfortable, so they won't be killers to my feet. Yay!) Oh... and they were $150. WIN!

Runway Recap: Our 5 Favorite #SS15 Shoes from #LFW

London Fashion Week is a wrap for this season, and the excitement has moved on to Milan. The shoes presented on the RTW runways indicate that Spring 2015 will be have London's style set choosing between dainty, chunky and sporty. And then there were the wild ones... those were our favorites. One of these seasons, someone from Shoes N Booze will get to the shows across the Atlantic, but this time, we had to live vicariously through our social media feeds.

Sophia Webster shoes are our spirit animal. No matter the season, she delights with bright colors, whimsical touches and an ultra-feminine aesthetic. Her SS15 collection, "Jungle is Massive" took a cue from all things untamed— and somehow added a cute factor. We're in absolute awe!

Nicholas Kirkwood for Roksanda

Roksanda Ilincic chose brooklyn-based sculptor, Julia Dault's work as her muse for Spring '15. (Every season, she draws inspiration from the work of an artist, so at the end of this show, she informed her audience before anyone had the chance to ask who it was.) Bold colors and geometric details characterized both the clothes and the shoes, which were a collaboration with Nicholas Kirkwood (a Shoes N Booze fave). We fell in love with the slightly curved heels and contrasting brights on these sandals.

House of Holland

During the 70s, rock groupies were influencers in their own right, and Henry Holland paid homage to them with is Spring 2015 collection. The pieces on his runway evoked words like gogo-glam and flower power. This sandal sums up both concepts in one step with its petal-like back, iridescent trim and tasseled ties.

Toga

"I create for a complex woman who can only live in chaos"— Toga's designer, Yasuko Furuta. Uh yea, that pretty much sums up the Shoes N Booze crew. No wonder we loved the shoes from her Spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection so much. These architectural sandals with their PLV inserts, multi-level wedge heels and color blocking are just the right amount of crazy.

Rupert Sanderson for Antonio Berardi

Antonion Berardi found inspiration for Spring '15 in the film The Flowers of War.  This translated into dresses, etc. in prints that referenced the refracted light of stained glass windows in a church. The shoes, a collaboration with Rupert Sanderson, were a literal interpretation— at least this pair was, with it's metallic straps and floral appliques. We think they're beautiful.

What about you? Did you have any favorites from London Fashion Week that we didn't mention? If they make it to production, maybe we can pair them with a cocktail once the season gets here.
